My New Favorite TV Show

While I’m still in love with Grey’s Anatomy (except the season finale sucked!), Heroes, and Lost, I’ve just found a new favorite. No, it’s not Deal or No Deal or Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? or even Dancing with the Stars or anything else on primetime.

My new favorite show is on the cable network Noggin at 10:00 AM. (Yes, I am a stay-at-home-mom… With a four year old, a two year old and an 8 month old.) It’s called The Upside Down Show.

The Upside Down ShowI know how much some of you L O V E the other Australian guys (you know – the ones that wiggle), but these guys are much cooler and a lot more fun! They actually crack ME up! They always have a word of the day – today’s was ‘perplexed’ – and do a lot with opposites (I know, hard to believe considering the title of their show). Lots of imaginary play with an imaginary remote control that always has different buttons (itchy button, upside down button where they turn upside down, instant replay – they actually commentate like a sportscaster doing a replay of golf or something, hilarious!). Great show, educational, my kids love it and are sad on any day that we miss it, and it makes adults laugh, too!!

Is there anything better? 🙂

Many thanks to my sister for introducing me to Baby Cheapskate – a great blog set up by a mom in Atlanta that’s always on the prowl for the latest deals. She’s the one who posted about AMC’s Summer Movie Camp.

AMC's Summer Movie Camps

On Wednesday mornings during the summer, AMC shows kid movies for FREE. This summer’s line up includes Happy Feet, Ice Age, and Over the Hedge just to name a few. While I’ve never attended one and I’m sure that the theatre is full, it sounds like a fun idea. At any rate, at least you’ll know that you will get sympathetic looks from the other moms around you when your kid starts screaming at the top of her lungs in the middle of the movie! 🙂

Go, Diego, Go!My kids love to watch “Go, Diego, Go!” on Nick Jr. (think Nickelodeon for preschoolers). It’s a great little show about all sorts of different animals that Diego has to help out of trouble.

Today’s episode was about a snake – an anaconda – named Ana. While I didn’t watch the entire episode closely (I was surfing the web and catching up on email) the last part of it really bothered me. After Diego has rescued Ana, she’s wrapped around his body and neck and saying thank you and smiling sweetly. To which, Diego responds, “Ana knows how to give great hugs!” Continue reading…

How Much Should YOU be Getting Paid?

My mom-in-law just sent an article to me and I was fascinated. A group at salary.com has done a survey of working and stay-at-home moms and has come up with a way of calculating what her paycheck would be for the time she’s ‘momming’. What a great way of recognizing all the hard work that a mom does every week for her family!!!

You can check out their article “What is Mom Worth?” and also enjoy creating your own (or another mom’s) paycheck based on the number of kids at home, your zip code, and how many hours per week you fulfill each of 10 different job roles. Seems as though I should be bringing home close to $128,000 for what I do! Wouldn’t that be a nice boost to our meager income stream??? 🙂

Holy cow!! Great use of visuals to help explain the proposed budget cuts and their actual impact on the overall budget.

You’ll never fold tshirts the same way again!

If you ever wanted to hear someone put a mommy’s day into a song, try this one! (I guarantee you’ll laugh your butt off.)

A little on the political side, but interesting nonetheless…
